Let the awkward conversations begin on how to tell your family you want a smaller wedding…

With the group size rule on large gatherings extending, let’s talk about how to share the news with your family and friends that you want a SMALLER WEDDING. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let’s back it up first because the most important thing is being on the same page with your partner. This is your wedding day and ultimately about the two of you but it has to be what you both want. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ok, so you’re on the same page…now what? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1. Go through the guest list –

Make a plan A and then a plan B just like you did when you first sent out invites. Decide on who is making the cut and stick to that list. Yes, that means some plus ones might get cut but also be prepared that some guests will opt out due to their comfort level of attending any large gatherings at this time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

2. Communicate –

Share this news in advance to your guests that may no longer be able to attend. Remember, this is everyone’s current reality so they will understand. Expect that feelings may be hurt so account for that and acknowledge those feelings if they come up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

3. Keep them involved –

Although they might not make the 50 person guest list, there are so many great ways to keep them involved. Our industry is pivoting with such creative ideas – the virtual wedding experience with @bespokedecor or you can always hire a videographer and pay additional for a same day edit to share via email with all of your guests that evening or the following day. ** please note the 50 person count includes your vendors and all staff working your event at this time**⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

4. Bring the focus back to your marriage –

This day is about you and your union and although many might not be present in the moment, they have a lifetime to support you in your marriage and celebrate you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

5. Party later –

Say I do and celebrate at a later date with everyone… don’t you agree a love like yours deserves to be celebrated twice 😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We hope this has been helpful. Please share this with someone that is planning their big day and might benefit with this information right now. If you would like to speak with us, you can book a consultation with us. ⠀⠀
