Shannon & Evan | Westcoast Whistler Elopement

January 24, 2018

Wedding

There’s something always so magical about elopements. We just love how intimate and personalized elopements can be and let’s just say that Shannon and Evan’s Westcoast Whistler Elopement was nothing short of that. Although it was a cold, snowy day – all you could feel was the warmth of these sweetheart’s love! It was truly a day to remember.

How They Fell in Love

Shannon and Evan met at the local Cross Fit gym in St. Johns, BC. They would occasionally catch each other’s eye and would always be working out at the same time. A friendship grew quickly and they became each other’s spotting buddy. Shannon moved away but Evan and her continued their friendship with Skype calls to stay in touch. During one of their Skypes, Evan joked about coming to see her but that joke soon became reality. After visiting Shannon, they both knew there was something special. Not long after, Shannon packed her bags and returned back to St. Johns.

How He Asked

Shannon and Evan have a mutual love for the West Coast (Whistler) and skiing. They take an annual trip out to Whistler to ski and they rent one of those super cute Air Bnb condos to stay in. Evan knew Shannon was the one early on but he wanted the proposal to be perfect. He waited until their annual trip out to Whistler. The weather was not good that day but Evan pushed forward with his plans. He convinced Shannon to go up to the peak where he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said yes! Yay!

How They Wed

The wedding plans were well underway but during the overwhelming amount of planning, Shannon and Evan decided it wasn’t exactly what they wanted. They wanted this special day to be just them in their favourite place; Whistler. Shannon had emailed Stephanie to set up a consultation. After a successful Facetime chat and almost planning the entire wedding in that first hour, Stephanie was hired on and the elopement plans were underway.

We planned the elopement during the couple’s annual ski trip out to Whistler and chose Nita Lake Lodge as their Winter West Coast wonderland backdrop. Christine Pienaar and Handsome Films were on hand to capture every detail. The couple enjoyed a quiet morning alone before Natacha Trottier arrived for hair and makeup. The couple shared a first look before entering hand in hand to their custom wedding ceremony with Whistler Wedding Officiant where the SHE team acted as the legal witnesses (we really do take all stress away during the day).

Following the ceremony, the couple took some couple portraits while the SHE team set up the private dining room with a romantic sweetheart table for two. The chef created a custom menu with the couple’s favorites and Cake and the Giraffe created a mini cake.

This wedding had all the traditional elements while still being a perfect reflection of the couple. Shannon and Evan, thank you for choosing the SHE team. We can’t wait for our nacho date at Dusty’s on your next ski trip!

Sentiments From the Couple

“Your passion and excitement for our own wedding really caught our attention since we’ve never received that kind of response anywhere else. Right away you already had great ideas on what to do and where to go which was a nice breath of fresh air. There was no contemplation of hiring you after our meeting, we pretty much high-fived each other that night since we could relax again.”

“Every time we connected we felt like ours was the only wedding you were planning. Your time and devotion were unquestioned and it truly felt like we were your only focus. Because of this, you were really able to get to know us individually and as a result, you planned our wedding exactly how we envisioned (or had hoped to envision). The result was very personally tailored to us.

Another thing that stood out was the fact that we connected with you so well. We could carry on and joke about things outside of all the wedding talk which was a nice balance. You were all around easy to get along with and made the whole process of planning a wedding probably one of the easiest things we’ve ever experienced. I’m sure those without excellent wedding planners like yourself fail to say their own wedding planning was an easy experience, so thank you for keeping us a few years younger! All in all, you could give us a list of all the things of what/how wedding planner should be and we would tick every box as a 10 out of 10.”
