They say, first comes love, then comes marriage then comes the baby in the baby carriage. Today is Giselle and Brandon’s anniversary and I’m reflecting on their incredible wedding day at Summerhill Pyramid Winery in Kelowna.
How they met:
(from the bride)
Brandon and I both grew up on farms just outside of a small town in Sylvan Lake, AB. We first met on a school bus on our first day of grade 4. We ended up being in the same elementary class. When Brandon took off to school in Red Deer, we remained friends but didn’t really reconnect until we were 21. It all seemed very surreal to be be dating my elementary school bus buddy. Before I knew it I was leaving friends and family behind to be with him in the states. Once we made that big decision it wasn’t long after that we were sitting on our dock at home when he asked me to marry him.
How they wed:
From the moment I first met Giselle and Brandon, I fell in love with them and their wedding vision. Although they wanted a beautiful wedding full of details, what mattered most was the marriage that followed the wedding day. Dream couple goals!
Originally from Alberta, they chose a destination wedding in beautiful Kelowna at Summerhill Pyramid Winery.
“When we started planning the wedding I didn’t have a vision for what I wanted the venue to look like. Our wedding planner communicated so well with all of our vendors and created a beautiful design for our venue. When I saw the decor for the first time I was completely shocked-in the best way possible! “
Vintage Origami and Crocus Florals curated a beautiful room full of luscious peach, cream and blush tone florals and linens, calligraphy quotes and eucalytus garlands cascading to the ground. The favour cookies were baked by the bride and placed inside white boxes next to a blush tone place card on each place setting. We used engagement photos of the couple, favourite song lyrics and poems to line the aisle and created an intimate and cozy atmosphere for our guests.
Favourite details included the first look with her father, the ice cream station and the school bus! It was only fitting that with a love story that began on the school bus that we incorporate that into the day.
“My most memorable moment is walking down the aisle with my dad towards Brandon and feeling as if I was dreaming. I will never forget the smile on his face, the world around us just seemed to completely disappear. A close second would be the speeches because no matter how hard you try not to cry, it’s just going to happen.”
