What’s more West Coast than planning for rain and basking in the sunshine minutes later? Mikayla and Adri’s wedding at Stanley Park Pavilion was the perfect blend of Vancouver charm, heartfelt traditions, and an atmosphere so warm it could melt the rain clouds away. Nestled in the middle of Vancouver’s beloved Stanley Park, this iconic venue provided the ideal backdrop for a celebration that was equal parts elegant, fun, and utterly magical.

Pivoting the Weather

The day started like many in Vancouver—full of promise, with just a hint of unpredictability. As guests arrived for the outdoor ceremony, the skies teased us with a light drizzle. But hey, we’re Vancouverites! We know how to pivot. The Sweetheart Events team quickly made the call to treat everyone to a pre-ceremony cocktail hour, which honestly, who doesn’t love that surprise? Thirty minutes later, the clouds rolled away, and the sun shone down, blessing the newlyweds as they made their way down the aisle. Cue the happy tears and smiles all around.

Malaysian Traditions Meet West Coast Charm

One of the most beautiful touches of Mikayla and Adri’s day was the incorporation of elements from a traditional Malaysian ceremony. The couple, along with their friends and our team, crafted bunga manggar—the symbolic palm blossom decorations used in Malaysian weddings. Seeing them line the aisle added a personal and meaningful touch to the day, connecting their cultural heritage to their Vancouver celebration.

Bold, Beautiful, and Green

Inside the pavilion, we kept things intimate, minimal, and stunningly bold. Lush greenery hung above the dance floor, while climbing vines along the back wall brought nature indoors. The reception was a perfect balance of long banquet tables and cozy round setups, all focused on the couple’s sweetheart table. The result? A room that felt fresh, organic, and yet elegant enough for this modern couple. It was a simple yet striking setup that let the love between Mikayla and Adri take center stage.

The evening flowed with heartfelt speeches, cold sparks, laughter, and dancing that carried late into the night, complete with a late-night snack from John 3:16 (yum!) and sax player (surprise from the bride to the groom). Every moment was carefully curated to feel like them—an intentional celebration that was equal parts fun and personal.

Vendors That Made It Happen
